Few forms of entertainment are as fun and enjoyable as the radio and everything is hunky-dory until no one crosses the line.

RJ Naved, one of radio’s popular pranksters did just that.

The Radio Mirchi jock is best-known for his segment, ‘Mirchi Murga’, where he calls people and pranks them on situations they are involved in at that moment.

This time though, his prank was insensitive and ill-directed.

In one of his latest pranks on-air, Naved called up a guy who had pasted posters of his lost dog all over Noida and some parts of Delhi. He told him that he had found his dog. The listener’s joy and relief was apparent on the phone and he asked Naved to ‘keep the dog safely.’ After some banter that followed, Naved revealed that he had been pulling a prank on the guy all along. The guy was understandably upset and angry and didn’t mince his words as he slammed the jock.

Pranking someone who has lost a pet is NOT cool and NOT done!

A pet is family to its owners and is loved as much as any other member in the family. The loss or death of a pet is hard enough to deal with. In such situations, making such jokes on a lost pet is insensitive and downright unacceptable.

A certain amount of self-regulation is necessary while such segments scripted so as to not harm the sentiments of the people in question and listeners at large. The sooner the radio station realises it, the better. For now, the least that RJ Naved and Radio Mirchi could do is to apologise to the person in question and assure their listeners that such incidents will not happen in the future.

Following the incident, Radio Mirchi took down the audio. However, a small portion of it was posted by a Twitter user and is doing rounds on the internet.

Twitterati expressed their disgust to the incident and demanded an apology from RJ Naved and Radio Mirchi.

‘Shame on You for Being Insensitive, RJ Naved’
