On a usual boring Thursday morning some Indians reminded their fellow Indians of the power of unity. And so influential were those some Indians that they managed to make #ThingsThatUniteIndian trend on Twitter.
So at The Quint, we decided to put out a list of things that unites us. And thank god religion did not make it to the list.
Sunny Leone
The popular dialogue from The Great Gatsby — “You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention” best describes the phenomenon called Sunny Leone. From Chaar Bottle to Baby Doll — the no-stopping ascent of the sex goddess is enough to demonstrate her massive fan-following. Bharatwasi’s love for Ms Leone is natural. After all, they are doing what bharatiye sanskriti has taught them — Atithi Devo Bhava (The guest is equivalent to God).
And yes, we know that Sunny Leone is not a ‘thing’, but hello, she does unite Indians.
Pakistan: Love Thy Neighbour
Nothing, absolutely nothing unites Indians the way Pakistan does. Irony at its best — we need a neighbouring country to unite us. Just say the ‘P’ word and deshbhakti will start oozing out of every Indian.
Sasta Aur Tikau
Just wait for season-end sales in branded stores, or look out for a board boldly flaunting ‘up to 50% Off’ and more than half of a city’s populations would be seen flocking to the shops.
Daru Desi
Khoob jamega rang, jab mil baithenge teen yaar… aap, main aur … daru. And now that Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur has declared drinking alcohol as one of our fundamental rights, what better thing to bring Indians together?
Arnab Goswami
Enough said! The nation already knows.
