Britain’s Prince Harry and US actor Meghan Markle announced their engagement and wedding plan subsequently, on Monday, 27 November.
A statement released by Clarence House said the couple got engaged earlier this month, and is set to marry in the spring of 2018.
The engagement has received the blessings of the British monarch Elizabeth II, and those of Markle’s parents Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland. Markle’s parents said they are “incredibly happy” for the couple and look forward to their future together.
The Royal Family and the State Heads Show Their Support
The Queen and Prince Phillip also said they were delighted about the upcoming Royal Wedding.
Harry’s father Prince Charles and his wife Camilla said they are “thrilled” and “very happy indeed” for the couple. So did Harry’s elder brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton.
British Prime Minister Theresa May and her predecessor David Cameron also tweeted their congratulations.
