So today is World Doll Day. We have already taken you on a trip back in time, talking about the most iconic dolls over the ages.

But we couldn’t have left you with just that, could we? So here are some “dolls” from pop culture to keep you amused for the day! And no, don’t expect toys.

It was not too long ago that almost every waking hour one could hear Baby Doll tu sone di, no matter where one was. The Sunny Leone starrer song from the film Raagini MMS 2 got Indians tapping their feet like crazy – be it at clubs or at shaadis, be it aunties or sassy girls – everyone was shaking their booty to Baby Doll.

Barbie Girl

The ’90s fun, cheeky pop song was not just creative, but also a rather nuanced take on the perfect plastic girl society hoped women would turn into. After all, “life in plastic, it’s fantastic.”

Child’s Play

While some of us adore dolls, there are some who are petrified by them. Chances are those who find dolls creepy have definitely watched one or all of the Child’s Play horror films. Yes folks, we are talking about Chucky, the murderous, scary doll, possessed by an evil spirit!

Human Barbie

Meet the human Barbie, Valeria Lukyanova, an Ukrainian model who made news thanks to her doll-like features. But the 29-year-old finds the comparison with Barbie “insulting” – “I think it’s even a little degrading and insulting, but I’m used to it now, since that’s what my work demands and this is precisely the image most fans request,” she told Cosmopolitan. Valeria is bold enough to confess that her breasts are fake, but the rest of her is real.
