Gautam Gambhir has been recalled to the Indian Test Team for the next two matches of the ongoing series against New Zealand at home.
In-form opener KL Rahul’s hamstring injury has made way for the stalwart to return to the dressing room after just two long years. Gambhir last turned out for India in the Oval Test against England in August 2014.
Despite major contributions in domestic cricket , including four back-to-back half-centuries in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy, Gambhir had repeatedly been overlook for selection. Till now, that is.
However, it will only be known on Friday morning if he joins Murali Vijay as the second opener in the line-up, with Shikhar Dhawan too being part of the squad.
