The stringent rules of the modelling industry can make it a hard place to be for a mother. But Mara Martin chose to break all stereotypes when she decided to walk the ramp while breastfeeding her baby girl.

Martin, one of the 16 finalists in the 15 July Sports Illustrated Paraiso x SI Swimsuit runway show, held as a part of Miami Swim Week 2018, walked the ramp in a gold bikini. In her arms was her five-month-old daughter, who wore noise-cancelling headphones.

Martin told NBC’s Today that it was a spontaneous decision to breastfeed the child on the runway.

The model shared photos of the event on her Instagram account. “I can’t believe I am waking up to headlines with me and my daughter in them for doing something I do every day. It is truly so humbling and unreal to say the least. I’m so grateful to be able to share this message and hopefully normalise breastfeeding and also show others that women can do it all,” she wrote in the caption.
