A Paris-based Senegalese model has taken Instagram by storm.
Bullied by racists for her dark skin while growing up, 19-year-old Khoudia Diop calls herself the ‘Melanin Goddess’ on Instagram and seeks to inspire people to rise above the demeaning standards of beauty based on fairness.
She tags her Instagram photos with #blackgirlmagic, #blackgirlsrock, #melaninonfleek, and of course #flawless.
Speaking to Daily Mail Online, she said, “Growing up, I faced it by confronting the bullies. As I grew, I learned to love myself more every day, and not pay attention to the negative people, which helped a lot.”
Because of my dark, melanin-rich complexion and because I want to inspire young girls and let them know that we are all goddesses inside and out.
On her Facebook page, she wrote about wanting to make dark-skinned women not to fall prey to objectification.
