Donald Trump seldom ceases to evoke strong reactions. Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States amid nationwide protests against his presidency.
In a show of resistance, actor Shia LaBeouf, and partners Rönkkö and Turner, unveiled a public art installation project titled He Will Not Divide.Us, on the day of the inauguration.
The project invites passersby to say the words “he will not divide us” into a camera mounted on a wall outside the Museum of the Moving Image, repeating the phrase as many times, and for as long as they wish.
This is what the Museum of the Moving Image website says:
The performance commences at 9:00 am on 20 January 2017, the day of the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States. Open to all, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the participatory performance will be live-streamed continuously at www.hewillnotdivide.us for four years, or the duration of the presidency. In this way, the mantra “HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US” acts as a show of resistance or insistence, opposition or optimism, guided by the spirit of each individual participant and the community.
Actor Jaden Smith was also seen participating and uttering the phrase a number of times.
The live streaming will continue for four years or the entire duration of Trump’s presidency.
