Conservative website the Daily Caller tried to stir up a controversy around former first-daughter, Malia Obama. The website shared a video of Malia blowing smoke rings in front of a mirror. The video, clearly taken by a friend, was made public and she was subsequently shamed by the website for being a college student and experimenting.

However, many came to her defense on social media and criticised the publication for scrutinising a private citizen. Among them were former first-daughter Chelsea Clinton and current first-daughter Ivanka Trump.
