Ever lied to bail out a colleague? It often lands you in trouble as well, as this Indigo pilot found out.
Last week in Chennai, the pilot-in-command of a Indigo flight to Madurai found his co-pilot missing. So, he did what some of us do to cover up for a co-worker who was late for work: he fibbed.
The pilot announced that the flight had been delayed as Air Traffic Control was not giving it a clearance. But unfortunately for him, a member of the ATC staff happened to be among the flyers.
The person on board then contacted the ATC and found that the pilot had not even asked for a push back.
The ATC pulled up the pilot and found out that the co-pilot was missing.
Finally, the pilot had to apologise and announce the real reason for the delay was his missing co-pilot. Airports Authority of India has pulled up Indigo over the issue.
