You know a lot about the history of India from the pre-historic times to the British raj, but how many of you can recall the history of the North-east?

Aaira Goswami, a grade 6 student who is from Assam, has made an appeal to the Prime Minister to include the history of her state and of the 7 sisters into school textbooks.

She says that she has read about the history of the entire country in school yet nothing on the North-east.

Some people don’t even know what the seven sisters are.

Goswami, who is currently doing her schooling from Jaipur, appealed to the Prime Minister, saying that reading about the history of her state in a school textbook “would be like a dream come true”.

Given that the Rajasthan government is aiming to re-write history in textbooks, Goswami’s suggestion would be a better incorporation into the school syllabus than the former.
