Flights scheduled for departure from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were delayed between 7:30 am to 9:30 am on Thursday, 3 January, due to dense fog enveloping the city.
Passengers at the airport were stranded for nearly two hours. Though the departure is said to have resumed at 9:30, the operations for the entire day have been affected with many stranded at the airport and on flight as well.
Travelers took to Twitter to share their inconvenience. While some had been stuck in flight for more than 2 hours, others encountered irregular flight schedules. Some angry passengers demanded answers from the airlines, Delhi airport authorities and even the PMO.
Many airlines have issued separate guidelines and advisories including IndiGo, Jet Airways, Vistara and SpiceJet. Some of them are also replying to passengers individually on Twitter.
Although the departure of flight resumed later in the day, this episode may offer a lesson to airlines for better management next time.
