High Heel Hell For Waitress Forced To Endure Bloody Feet

For waitresses who spend endless hours on their feet, it makes no sense for such pointless rules to be in place.

A Canadian restaurant is in hot water over forcing its waitresses to wear high heels when a post by a woman went viral on the internet.

Accompanied by a disturbing image of bleeding feet, the post opened up discussions on social media about how dressing policies of corporations are unnecessarily sexist.

Shared over 11,000 times, the post by Nicola Gavins, addresses the problems faced by her friend who is a waitress at Joey Restaurant, Edmonton.

It describes the intense pain that waitresses were forced to endure by the restaurant’s restrictive policy which she calls ‘sexist and archaic.’

Her friend was coerced into wearing heels despite her bleeding toes and broken toenails.

The discriminatory policy allows male employees to wear items from their own closet while female workers had to purchase their uniform.

For waitresses who spend endless hours on their feet, it makes no sense for such pointless rules to be in place.

This is not the first time such regressive polices have been questioned. Earlier this week, a PwC employee in London started an online petition after being fired for not wearing heels.
