After covering General Elections in India and rise of BCCI, host of Netflix's Patriot Act, Hasan Minhaj has turned his attention towards the Indian sub-continent again – this time on the issue of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

In tweet posted on 15 August, Minhaj, who is an American comedian of Indian origin, wrote, "As India celebrates its independence, let's think about the people who don't seem to have any right now."

The tweet also had a video attached where he briefly spoke about the communications blackout in the Valley following the revocation of Article 370 which granted special status to J&K.

“On this Independence Day, we should think about the people of Kashmir... There’s been a communications blackout, so just imagine parents not being able to get in touch with their kids. Families don’t even know if they’re okay.”

Minhaj’s Tweet on Kashmir Angers Some Indian Users

As the video started doing rounds on Twitter, many Indian users expressed anger and bashed the American comedian for his “lack of knowledge on Kashmir’s history.”

Earlier in March, Minhaj in an edition on Indian Elections, spoke about the BJP’s landslide victory in the 2019 polls. The episode also spoke about the loss of Congress' former chief Rahul Gandhi in Amethi and the victory of terror-accused BJP MP Pragya Thakur.

Although the episode drew praises from many viewers, several others had also bashed Minhaj for speaking against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
