Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
People taking a walk down Marine Drive in Mumbai were in for a treat on Tuesday, 22 January, when virtuoso cellist and Grammy award winner Yo-Yo Ma performed an impromptu gig for some lucky Mumbaikars.
A video showing Ma sitting down at Marine Drive playing the cello started circulating on Instagram, sending fans into a tizzy.
Yo-Yo Ma is reportedly visiting India as part of the Bach project and played notes from from Bach’s Cello Suite No.1, according to the Mumbai Mirror.
Interestingly, according to the same report, most of his audience had no idea who he was, but they all enjoyed his performance. Ma played on for around 20 minutes and entertained a group of Marine Drive regulars that included elderly men and women, and a seven-year-old.
After the impromptu gig, Ma simply took a bow and left.
