Google Trends data for India is out. The list reveals Disha Patani, Sushant Singh Rajput, Donald Trump, Salman Khan, and even Sonam Gupta as the top searched people in India. But is that the complete picture, we wondered. Therefore, we came up with an honest reflection of what would’ve been our searches through the year. Tongue in cheek? Check.

Priyanka Chopra

After the hype and constant teases, the trailer of Baywatch landed on our screens. But unlike, XXX: The Return of Xander Cage’s trailer, where Deepika Padukone seems to have got a meaty role, we definitely missed seeing much of Priyanka. There was only one way to spot her. Search it up.

National anthem

With standing and singing the national anthem before movies becoming mandatory, this was important.

That one Indian book this year that is definitely going to become a movie soon.

Udta Punjab

One of the most controversial movies definitely created a lot of buzz for what got censored.

Donald Trump

Will he make it, or won’t he? Nobody was able to read the odds for this one.

Sonam ‘bewafa’ Gupta

Internet has enough love for the ‘International Bewafa of the year’. (She actually made it to the actual list, even after NOT existing)

Pokémon GO

One instant rage that made a lot of us realise the importance of mobile internet packs, and power banks.

ADVERTISEMENTREMOVE AD

Raghuram Rajan

The man and his badass quotes were all over the internet for the better part of the year.

Surgical strike

A military term, now a widely acknowledged verb.

Hot videos

Because the land of Kamasutra is Pornhub’s third-largest audience, and hence a lot of indoor ‘weekend plans’.
