Today marks the 94th birth anniversary of Riley B King, better known as BB King, who is regarded as one of the greatest Blues musician of all times. His songs, such as ‘The thrill is gone’, have helped define the Blues genre.
Google honoured the artist with a Google Doodle and an animated video tribute. BB King won as many as 15 Grammy awards, making him one of the first internationally renowned Blues artist who also got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
BB King was also emotionally attached to his instruments, especially his guitar ‘Lucille’.
Born in Itta Bena, Mississippi, King took to music at the end of his service in the US Army. He started his career as a disc jokey in Memphis, Tennessee where he was given the title of ‘the Beale Street Blues Boy’, according to a report.
The legendary Blues singer has collaborated with the likes of Elton John and Eric Clapton to create some of the most iconic music that has broken multiple records and won multiple awards.
