Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a ‘joke’ on April Fool’s Day this year about a Tesla-branded tequila, calling it ‘Teslaquila’. Now, months later, he has announced on Twitter that Teslaquila will actually hit the markets soon.
The electric-car maker has officially filed an application on 8 October with the US Patent and Trademark Office to trademark it.
Teslaquila is identified in the application as “distilled agave liquor” or “distilled blue agave liquor”. It was filed as ‘based on intent to use’, which means Tesla does not have the product ready till now. However, it intends to manufacture the product in the near future.
Teslaquila is on its way...
Elon Musk tweeted out the ‘visual approximation’ of the label. He used the same image in April this year to fool people that Tesla was bankrupt. He posted jokingly that he had been “found passed out against a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by ‘Teslaquila’ bottles.”
This got tremendous attention on Twitter, with people even tweeted out their reactions to the announcement.
