The Panama Papers are indeed a little complicated. But a Reddit thread came up with a brilliant explainer. The Quint decided to adapt it with a desi twist, and here we are, with Vijay and Vijay Ka Gullak.

Vijay had a gullak, in which he deposited all his savings.

Vijay ki mummy used to check his gullak and keep a track of all the paisa he deposited or spent.

Then Vijay decided, “Why should mummy look at all my paisa?” He approached his friend Raju to help him out.

So Vijay took an extra gullak to Raju’s house, put his name on it, and kept it in his room.

Raju ki mummy was quite chilled out, and she didn’t snoop on her son. So what happened in Raju’s room, stayed in Raju’s room. Hurray!

Now all pados ke bachhe log thought, “What an idea, Sirji”. So everyone lined up at Raju’s house with their gullaks. Raju ka ghar became gullak-i-stan.

Not everyone’s gullak was there for the wrong reason. Pintu ke papa was a bully who kept taking money from his gullak, so Pintu hid his money at Raju’s. Aisha wanted to save for her dad’s birthday gift without him knowing. Amit did it because all his friends were doing it. But many of the kids were badmaash too. Monu was stealing his classmate’s lunch money and didn’t want his parents to find out. Mikesh was stealing from his mummy ka purse.

But one day, Raju ki mummy ko hua shak when she saw all the gullaks, and went, “Raju, what the....”.

She called everyone’s parents.

Eventually, everyone’s Maa found out about Panama. There were also gullaks belonging to popular kids on the block.

We’ll soon know which kids were good and which were badmaash. But abhi to sab ki watt lagi hai.

The #PanamaPapers are still being investigated for more nuances, which might throw up deeper, darker details.
