‘Homeland’ has gained wide popularity among western and Indian audiences.

Originally adapted from an Israeli show of the same name, P.O.W - Bandi Yudh Ke is the show’s Indian adaptation by Nikkhil Advani, in partnership with Star Plus.

The show is set against the backdrop of 1999 Kargil war. Two Indian soldiers — Purab Kohli and Satyadeep Mishra — were trapped in Pakistani camps for 17 years, and they finally managed to come home. Like the original, there are suspicions on their having switched allegiances in the years they were trapped and brutalised.

Amrita Puri & Sandhya Mridul star as their wives and it looks like a show which will be worth the hype, and a much-needed change from the 24/7 soap operas that rule Indian television.
