Cristiano Ronaldo, CR7, one of modern day football’s brightest stars, is now an entire galaxy.
ESPN FC has reported that The European Southern Observatory’s astronomers (Fans) have named a newly-discovered galaxy CR7 - it may officially stand for Cosmos Redshift 7, which is a measure of its place in cosmic time, the astronomers did go on to add that the nickname was inspired by the Real Madrid forward.
David Sobral, from the University of Lisbon, led the team of scientists and wanted to honour Portugal’s team captain Ronaldo.
The astronomers also added that, CR7 is “three times brighter than the brightest distant galaxy known up to now.”
