Just when one thinks “okay, politics cannot get weirder”, Twitter hurls up certain gems our way.

On Friday evening, RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav was venting out his distaste for the prime minister and the way the railways are currently being handled (Lalu, of course, was once a Railways Minister who even gave management lessons to IIM students).

In jumps Sushil Kumar Modi, a BJP veteran, to defend the honour of the PM and to serve up an analogy to the RJD supremo about his time as the railway minister. What transpired was, well, strange to say the least.

While Lalu kept highlighting the problems facing the railways, he kept subtweeting Modi, really squabbling like they were back in school.

While it could be that the tweets talking about the state of the railways were written by someone from Yadav’s office, upon his instruction and guidance, but the tweets directed to Modi seem to have been written by the RJD chief himself.

The little outburst by Lalu was brought about because during the day, the Prime Minister delivered a speech at the Rail Vikas Shivir where he said:

My links with the Railways is strong. My childhood was spent on rail platforms. That is all the more reason I want to transform railways.

He also spoke about the ways he wanted to transform the railways and said that the development of the country depends on the development of the railways.

We shall keep you posted on any new developments on this Comedy Nights episode.
