We know that Tanmay Bhat’s been doing the rounds on more platforms than he’d probably wished. Widening the circle further this time is comedian Gaurav Gera who also happens to be an Instagram phenomenon. Gera posted a video on Instagram, his face swapped with Lata Mangeshkar, that sends out a strong message to not just Tanmay but his detractors too.

The video shows Gera playing a Mangeshkar fan who’s definitely not amused with Tanmay’s brand of humour. There is a manic calm lurking in his make-belief Mangeshkar’s voice that very clearly conveys the message that Tanmay’s idea of fun is something her fans don’t appreciate.

However, the content strikes the right cord with a perspective that neutralises all the vitriol coming Tanmay’s way. Gera makes it clear that the right to get offended is as legit as the right to offend. So, while Lata tai’s fan is quite peeved at Tanmay’s comments, she also seems to realise that humor is subjective and that Tanmay’s Snapchat story is “just a video” that should not be prioritised at the cost of urgent issues plaguing the nation.

Gera does shell out a blow-for-blow when he tells Tanmay that he looks like sabudaana put in water, but one can argue that this drives his right-to-offend-and-get-offended implication further home.
