Almost four years have passed since I appeared for my board exams, and yet, every year around this time, I get flashbacks of myself slumped over books – asleep. And the guilt still gets to me.
“Beta bas iss saal padh lo, phir bas life mein aish hi hai.” Sarasar jhoot.
My problem with board exams wasn’t that I had to study long hours, or be locked in a room for months, or my parents’ undivided attention that I had never received in all my 17 years of life.
My problem was that every teacher thought ‘Iss saal ka hi paper sabse tough hoga’. And due to this, my parents expected me to sit and study for 26 hours because my cousin was studying for 24 hours a day.
Chalo khair, all’s well that ends well. Exams bhi ho gaye, marks bhi aa gaye.
