As desis who are often made fun of around the world for our Bollywood song-and-dance movies, we take this moment as our proudest ever. Because guess what, Christopher Nolan just said he watched the goddamn amazing Satyajit Ray’s Pather Panchali and thought it was the most ‘extraordinary’ piece of work!
I have had the pleasure of watching Mr Ray’s Pather Panchali recently, which I hadn’t seen before. I think it is one of the best films ever made. It is an extraordinary piece of work. I am interested in learning more about Indian film industry and that is the reason why I came.Christopher Nolan
The director, virtually a god for so many youngsters in the country, and is in India on a three-day trip, also added that wants to meet “Indian filmmakers and get the better understanding of cinema culture here.”
The other reason why I wanted to come here was from a selfish point of view. I wanted to meet Indian filmmakers and learn more about India. I am looking forward to watching more Indian films in futureChristopher Nolan
We sincerely hope our contemporary films don’t disappoint you, sir!
Meanwhile, let the desi dancing begin.
