“ What she wants to say is..”
“Bro, don’t mansplain. I am sure she knows what she wants to say”
“Okay! No need to be so rude!”
“No need to tell a woman what she means :)”
Almost all women, at some point in their lives have been mansplained or in other words received unsolicited advice or “words of wisdom” from a man. Some of them call it out and others just let it slide and many don’t even realise.
It does not always happen on purpose. It’s not always meant with ill intent. But it does tend to happen more often than it should.
Kim Goodwin—the author of ‘Designing for a Digital Age’, designed a flow chart to help her male colleagues understand whether or not the behavior they’re exhibiting is ‘mansplaining’.
It was not long before the flowchart went viral on social media and got people talking with most people appreciating her flowchart.
“Don’t Make It a Gendered Issue”
Some users were also critical of the chart. One of them pointed out that Goodwin should not make it a gendered issue. Kim actively engaged with them and tried to explain her stand.
What do you think of the flowchart?
