After becoming the butt of jokes, former Kiwi player Scott Styris was found partying in Delhi’s Summerhouse Cafe on Monday, the same day he walked out of the commentary box during India’s third ODI against New Zealand in Mohali.
“I will walk out of the commentary box, and take the first flight to New Zealand if Jadhav takes a wicket today,” said Styris. And he didn’t have to wait too long. In his second over, Indian part-time spinner Kedar Jadhav got Kiwi captain Kane Williamson LBW and keeping true to his word, Styris walked out of the box.
But he obviously didn’t take “the first flight to New Zealand”, but took the first flight to Delhi, where we found him having a good time!
After staging the walkout, Styris has tweeted saying he was in “hiding” when someone asked where he had really gone. And a day later, he complimented Indians on twitter for singing better than him, even though it was their “second language”.
Now we wonder if the Here without you song was meant for Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar, his fellow commentators he left behind in Mohali.
