Artist Shayan Italia has thrown a challenge to the Internet, and netizens are totally up for it. In a tweet, Shayan challenged the Internet to make his rendition of the Indian National Anthem, ‘Jana Gana Mana’, reach 71 million views, for India’s 71 years of Independence.
“Show your patriotism: Challenge your heroes, idols & friends to join the movement!” Shayan wrote in his tweet.
Shayan’s rendition of the national anthem is on the piano which, as the opening credits of the video tell us, was bought by the artists’ mother in 1998 as a goodbye present. Losing her fight against cancer, Shayan’s mother did not live to see him play.
The video has gone viral on social media and has crossed 55 million views on YouTube. It is also the world’s most viewed national anthem online ever, according to Shayan.
