CM Yogi Can Rename These Uttar Pradesh Towns Instead of Hyderabad

CM Yogi won’t get the chance to rename Hyderabad now. Here’s what he can rename in Uttar Pradesh instead, honestly.

While campaigning in Telangana for 2018 state elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, promised to change the name of Hyderabad if voted to power. This followed CM Yogi’s renaming exercise in Uttar Pradesh, where Mughalsarai Railway Station got renamed to Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya Junction, Allahabad got renamed to Prayagraj, and Faizabad to Ayodhya.

With Telangana election results giving mandate to TRS again, CM Yogi Adityanath wouldn’t get the chance to play scrabble with Hyderabad’s name. But the politics of changing names isn’t expected to end anytime soon with calls to rename Agra to – wait for it – Agravan.

Running Out of Luck

What are the odds that a casual drive in the city could get you shot? Apparently you are out of luck if you’re in Lucknow because that’s what allegedly happened in an incident, where Vivek Tiwari, a tech executive, was shot by the cops after Tiwari didn’t stop the car during ‘routine checking’.

Hoax and Happening

Rumours. Lynching. Social condemnation. Okay, next.

These rumours are a real threat to the social fabric of this entire country. Its impact can be seen in multiple towns and villages across Uttar Pradesh, with virtually no effective solution. A cattle trader was killed and another injured after a mob blamed them for cow slaughter. In a video of the incident, the policemen were seen to be passive audience to the violence.

In the Firing Line

Imagine the lawlessness if common citizens have the audacity to murder a policeman in broad daylight, that too, while recording a video of the incident. Sounds like a filmy potboiler, but it’s a very unfortunate reality in Uttar Pradesh.

Pride, and Prejudiced Police

Nationalism vs Patriotism is not difficult to understand. It does get complicated when the two sides brush against each other, and it gets uglier when it leads to death and injuries.

An ‘unauthorised tiranga rally’, organised by BJP’s student wing Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, passed through a muslim-dominated area where a scuffle ensued. This led to a death and injuries.

Mobbed of Justice

Police officers are supposed to be protectors of law, justice and human rights. Apparently, it’s too much to ask in CM Yogi’s state. A man was pulled down from the police van, where the mob standing outside beat him to death.
