We asked if you’d join our fight to make stalking a Non-Bailable Offence.

In less than 10 days, with your signatures on the change.org petition, over one lakh agreed with a resounding ‘yes’! We thank our readers for their overwhelming support and active participation for the cause.

At The Quint, we are #TalkingStalking. Let’s break the silence together.

The recent case, involving the stalking and attempted kidnaping of Varnika Kundu, a young woman in Chandigarh, was a timely reminder to the country of how vulnerable women still are in India, despite the outrage and the reforms brought about by the brutal gangrape and murder of ‘Nirbhaya’ in 2012.

It also brought to light the fact that stalking is still a ‘bailable offence’ in our country.

After the incident, Quint NEON started a campaign called #TalkingStalking to break the silence around stalking. We encouraged men and women to talk about instances of being stalked.

The Quint’s readers shared their harrowing experience of being stalked, some under the condition of anonymity. Thank you for showing courage and breaking the silence that has trivialised stalking as crime for years now.

After receiving an overwhelming response, Journalist, TV anchor and RJ, Richa Anirudh took cognisance of our work and has joined our cause.

You too can be a part of this movement. Head to change.org to sign the petition right now.
