The ongoing struggle between Israelis and Palestinians is not unknown. Amidst all the hatred spewed online, a photo of an Israeli nurse breastfeeding a Palestinian baby has won many hearts already.
The Jewish nurse Ola Ostrowski-Zak breastfed the infant Yaman Abu Ramila after his Palestinian mother was severely injured in an accident and admitted to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Israel . Yaman’s father had been killed in the accident.
Ostrowski attempted to feed the nine-month old from the bottle but after his continuous refusal, she decided to feed the baby on her own.
Ostrowski-Zak told TODAY, "That was my first instinct. I thought to myself, ‘I must help this baby’”. She added, “I felt a unique connection with him. It felt pretty similar to feeding my own son Ayam.”
Ostrowski is herself a mother to an 18-month-old.
Ostrowski’s act of kindness has spread like wildfire, garnering much attention on social media.
