India’s most common public transport, the auto rickshaw, reaches the UK and we are super excited!

The days of one hearing “bhaiya oxford street chaloge” is not far away. The India-based ride-hailing company Ola launched a fleet of bright green Bajaj and Piaggio auto-rickshaws on 22 March in Liverpool, and also reportedly offered customers free rickshaw rides on the first day around the Liverpool city centre, according to a
The News Minute report.

People online are predicting that this is a part of Ola’s bid to take on its biggest rival, Uber, on a global level. These autos will be called ‘tuk tuks’ and were a part of the launch of Ola’s service in Merseyside as reported by LiverpoolEcho.UK
.

The company has granted licenses in each of the Merseyside boroughs and already 500 drivers are onboard for this new venture.

“I have been driving passengers around the city today and have really enjoyed the chance to discuss the challenges that the community faces and how we can help with our new technology.”
Ben Legg, managing director of Ola UK, to Financial Express.

Now, what we desis are wondering is how exactly are the autos going to ‘fare’ in pardes.
Will the rickshas have “dekho magar pyaar se” stickers? Will they pimp up their auto with parandis and cool lights? Will the bhaiya still deny sawari?

Guess we’ll have to wait and find out!
