Shahid Kapoor’s big release is here. Kabir Singh directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga is an official remake of 2017 Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy, which starred Vijay Deverakonda. Honestly, Arjun Reddy was filled with toxic masculinity and so is Kabir Singh. Why did a fine actor like Shahid Kapoor sign up for such a crass story? And what era are the director and script-writer living in? Late 80s?

Anyway, both Kiara Advani and Shahid Kapoor have delivered strong performances but again, the story is so regressive in nature that your mind wonders ‘why glorify an ill-tempered, dominating and abusive Kabir Singh’?

Shahid Kapoor’s character Kabir is an alcoholic, womaniser, drug addict and has serious anger issues. Throughout the film he struggles to get over his post-break up trauma... BY DOING DRUGS!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Kiara plays the love-interest of Kabir, Preeti. She is all-approving of Kabir’s abusive behaviour. I mean, why? There is one scene where Kabir slaps Preeti and asks her to f*** off but in the very next scene she forgives him after he tenders a teary-eyed apology. #BrainDead

There is nothing new in the film. As a matter of fact, the level of toxic masculinity and misogyny reminds you of late 80s’ cinema. Now, should you watch such a movie which glorifies abusive relationships? Make an informed choice, people.

So, this weekend if you are planning to watch Kabir Singh, hold on. Watch our two-minute honest movie review and then decide for yourself.
