The nation has been in mourning for the past couple of weeks, as the news about Kathua and Unnao brought the common citizen to the streets.
While protest marches were organised across the country, social media expressed its anger, outrage and grief at the rape and murder of the 8-year-old girl in Kathua and the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl in Unnao. Our netas either kept quiet, choosing not to comment on the heinous crimes – or they decided to politicise the issue.
Bahut hui netagiri, we at The Quint wanted the people – YOU – to speak up. We wanted you to share with us what justice you’d hope to see in the Kathua rape case.
The responses we received were overwhelming, and your anger and pain evident.
Here’s what you said:
Popular Opinion: Public Should Decide Punishment
Brutal Crime Deserves Brutal Punishment
Strictest Law Must be Applied
Hand Them a Sentence of Life Imprisonment
