The internet is an easy place to charm, especially if you are the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, or — if recent trends are anything to go by — his youngest son, Hadrien.
Collectively, the Trudeaus left online desis quite excited, especially on their visit to the controversial symbol of love and India’s favourite honeymoon destination, the Taj Mahal in Agra.
Truth be told, some of us were almost expecting him to take one of those clichéd Taj Mahal pictures, you know the one where you hold the tip of the central dome.
Alas! Our wishes were not to be fulfilled.
But, we haven’t given up wishing just yet.
Here’s a list of places we think Justin Trudeau can visit to get a real feel of India.
1. Gali Paranthe Wali
The narrow, crowded lane of Chandni Chowk in Delhi, popularly known as ‘Gali Paranthe Wali’ or ‘Paranthe Wali Gali’, is a must-visit, and the oily paranthas that come filled with many-a-veggies is a must-have.
Bonus if you take the rikshaw ride around the market while drinking lassi.
2. India Gate
While in the city, Trudeau might also want to visit Delhi’s favourite picnic spot, India Gate.
At India Gate, Trudeau can expect to hear Delhi traffic zooming by and kids crying for balloons, as street pedlars make their way through cozily seated couples.
3. Marine Drive
From one cosmopolitan city to another, Trudeau might even enjoy a seaside walk down Marine Drive, Mumbai, while eating the city’s signature street food, vada pav.
4. Mannat Villa
While in Mumbai, Trudeau may also want to visit one of the most revered spots of desis – Mannat, the luxurious home of Shah Rukh Khan. Wouldn’t we want to see pictures of the two handsome men together?
Imagine Hadrien meeting SRK’s son, AbRam. The internet will have a field day!
5. Victoria Memorial
One location that you will find on every travel itinerary of those visiting Kolkata is the Victoria Memorial. The large marble structure gives the Taj Mahal a run for its money!
However, if Trudeau wants the real taste of Kolkata (quite literally), he might want to visit the many fish or ‘machh’ markets.
Besides these, India also has the Hawa Mahal, Ajanta-Ellora caves, Kerala backwaters... the list just goes on. Moreover, each city has its own cuisine to boast about.
One visit to India is definitely not enough!
Think Trudeau should visit your city during his next visit to India? Have other locations on your wishlist for the Canadian Prime Minister?

The baby girl, who we will refer to as 'Chhutki', was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin when her parents were away. She has been discharged from AIIMS hospital after undergoing three surgeries, but needs more medical treatment in order to heal completely. Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future. Every little bit counts. Click here to donate.)
