Eid Mubarak to you all!
So, Eid is here and so is Bhaijaan. Expected to be the biggest Bollywood release of 2019, Bharat is all about Bhai and Bhai’s ‘Bharat’. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film chronicles the journey of a man named Bharat post-independence, from 1947 to 2018. The film also stars Katrina Kaif, as Madam Sir, and surprisingly, she has done a good job as far as portraying the role on screen goes. Sunil Grover, who plays the role of Bharat’s man Friday, aka Vilayati, is a delight to watch on screen.
But, the movie felt a little extra! I mean, be it emotions, patriotism, Bhai’s 75-year-old avatar’s heroism or the length of the movie — all feels a bit extra.
Now, for Bhai fans (well, honestly, they don’t need a review), this movie is like an adrenaline shot to the heart. It’s got Bhai’s swagger, Bhai’s moves like Mike Jagger and everything else Bhai. Disha Patani also makes an appearance, but her role is way too short to notice. Just one song and a couple of scenes, that’s it.
The film has next to no action sequences, possibly because Bhai was trying to be more of an actor this time around. The film is basically a rendition of South Korean film Ode to My Father, but who am I to judge a Bhai flick? All I can be is honest. So, here’s presenting a 100 % honest review of Bharat.
