Dear Soldier,
“I regret I have only one life to give for my nation”– this is the poignant motto that Indian soldiers swear by, and follow the line of duty in the harshest of conditions.
As we sit in the comfort of our homes, this Republic Day let us pause for a moment and be thankful for the security they have provided us. Soldiers are unsung heroes, who live away from their families to defend their motherland with pride in their hearts and a smile on their faces.
We are grateful, we truly are because:
We sleep in peace while you are lucky to get a few hours of rest.
We gym in style, while you train in deserts and glaciers.
We crib about work, while you celebrate festivals with local villagers at your post.
We watch movies, while you have a singing duel with soldiers across a barbed wire.
We ask for promotions and raises, while you are happy with fresh food rations for the day.
We live our today because your sacrifice your tomorrow.
So, a huge shout-out to our soldiers. May we be strong like you, respect the work you do, look after the families of fallen troopers, and contribute in whatever way we can to make every day a bit happier for you.
Jai Hind!
