Dear soldier,
You may not know me, but I know you – I am a citizen of the country who sleeps peacefully every night because you are awake. Words fall short to thank you. So I will not attempt doing that.
Instead, I would like to ask you – what motivates you to put your life at stake to save mine? I would really want to know so that I can inspire and motivate my future generations to aspire to become a part of the defence services.
In a country like ours where joining the military service is not compulsory, a lot of us take our safety for granted, without pausing for a minute to wonder about the sacrifices countless people like you make to simply keep us alive.
Praying for your long life and safe return to your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Shayonee
