Dear soldier,
It is 8 degrees in Delhi, and I’m sitting cosy in my blanket. The newspaper is kept right next to me, and the first thing I am reading is how soldiers are guarding our borders in -35 degrees. Just reading of the temperature gives me the shivers. We bow down to you.
The life of a soldier is so difficult. I cannot even imagine it. Perhaps, it is a thousand times tougher than my professional life. You are posted far away from family at your stations. We hear stories of your might every other day, and the stories of your sacrifices leave me with goosebumps.
I have seen a friend of mine go through rigorous training for joining the Army. His day used to start at 3 am in the morning, the time when everyone else in the country is in deep sleep. He used to work hard all day and night, and finally entered the ranks. I feel proud to think that he is a brave soldier of the Indian Army.
Like my friend Prince, there are many brave soldiers who are ready to sacrifice their life for the country.
Dear soldier, I know that with you here, there can be no emergency situation in the country. I am short of words to describe what I feel for you, my pen is definitely not mightier than your courage. Yet, like every other Indian, I salute your bravery.
