Sneha Verma, who hails from Kharghar in Mumbai, was born with Down Syndrome. She was always a water baby, and was introduced to swimming at an early age, her mother Madhu Verma says. Sneha took swimming lessons with her younger sister Shivani, and the two would compete in the pool. But it wasn’t that easy for Sneha to learn skills such as breathing or manoeuvring underwater.
Sneha represented India at the 2015 Special Olympics Games in Los Angeles, and won a gold in the 50 metre freestyle aquatics. Watch the full video here.
