These Celeb Would-be-Moms Show How Best to Dress Your Baby Bump!

Take a cue from these celeb would-be-moms who show you how to dress your changing body type and look gorgeous.

The Duchess of Cambridge recently emerged on the steps of St. Paddington’s hospital on May 2, with another royal paparazzi darling swaddled in her arms.

Dressed immaculately in a pretty white and yellow Jenny Packham dress, baby bump barely visible, looking resplendent from the top of a perfectly blow-dried crop of hair down to her simple nude pumps, it was hard to believe this lady had just given birth – a second time around.

While we gasp and gawk at the style that’s clearly not leaving Kate Middleton soon, it might be worth our while, in the light of Mother’s Day, to take a look at some other would-be-celebrity-mothers in recent time. These mothers, while still pregnant, not only rocked every fashion trend in the lookbook, but also proved to onlookers that there was more to looking the part than simply shopping at Moms R’Us.

1. Kate Middleton

There’s little doubt that the elegant Duchess of Cambridge gallantly leads the list. Kate, through both her pregnancies, has looked assured in whatever she’s worn, straddling the line between regal and exciting. She looks particularly ravishing here, in a brown ensemble (and one of her famous hats!) that dares to break the monotony of the St. Patrick’s Day green wave. The green shamrock helps her maintain her bid with tradition.

2. Victoria Beckham

Who can forget the inimitable style of Victoria Beckham who galvanized her Posh style throughout her pregnancy wardrobe. Dresses, coats, fancy headgear – all received a new twist in the hands of the stylish mom-to-be. In this picture she is seen with husband and ace footballer David Beckham who places his hand on her stomach. Designed by herself, Victoria chose an understated midnight blue tunic dress to grace the Royal Wedding (aka the 2011 Kate Middleton-Prince William extravaganza).

3. Angelina Jolie

The mother of six has already won widespread acclaim for her decision to undergo a mastectomy to ward off cancer. The actress’ maternity style has been graceful, almost Grecian, seen during her pregnancies in strappy evening gowns and empire-waist maxidresses. She looks regal in the photograph above, shot at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008, with her hand on her belly.

4. Kim Kardashian

Say what you will about Kim Kardashian and the rest of her clan’s PR gimmicks, but no one proves the adage “you may love or hate her, but you can’t ignore her” better than Kim. Few women have looked more beautiful than Kim did in this spring 2013 issue of DuJour magazine, where she posed makeup-less and in a white bikini. Looking absolutely ethereal as she showed off her baby bump, Kim toed the perfect line between appropriate and sexy.

5. Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley looked positively glowing on the red carpet at the Academy Awards in Hollywood in 2015. A vision in pink, Knightley graced the carpet in a gorgeous Valentino gown embroidered with delicate florals and French words. The Imitation Game actress throughout her pregnancy has channeled a feminine poise and confidence in all her looks.

6. Natalie Portman

The Black Swan belle lived through her Oscars glory in 2011 with the additional adventure of upcoming motherhood, looking gorgeous as she did it. Portman was spotted all through the awards season rocking one fabulous look after another – from the luxuriously rich purple gown by Rodarte at the Academy Awards to the strapless white Azzaro gown at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. But the one that we liked best? Her breezy neon yellow dress with that fun retro bouffant! Here was one actress who showed mothers how to have fun dressing for pregnancy!

7. Lara Dutta

The dusky beauty’s effervescent pregnancy wardrobe took the fashion police by storm, as she refused to shy away from showing her baby bump. Seen here at the second season of the India International Fashion Week in 2012, ace tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi’s wife sashayed down the ramp in a heavily studded lehenga choli for Shane & Falguni Peacock, chunky diamond necklace and earrings. This lady was clearly not scared of a little bling!

8. Konkana Sen Sharma

No image of a Bollywood celebrity stands out more in memory than that of Konkana Sen Sharma baring her nude baby bump on a magazine cover. Dressed in a green top that opens out over her stomach, Konkana is seen fondling her bump with an azure smile on her face. The actress shot for both the UK and Indian editions of the magazine.

9. Genelia D’Souza

One half of Bollywood’s “cutest couple” (a penny for every time they’re called that!), Genelia D’Souza looked adorable in her pregnancy all through last year, her natural effervescence heightening her fashion sense. However, the actress shied away from wearing bodycons and dresses like her contemporaries and instead focused on fabrics that were loose, breezy and that she was most comfortable in. Seen here in a gorgeous studded salwar kameez, the Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na star clearly shows that you need to be most comfortable in your skin before anything else!
