The world is but a state of your mind, but Monday is a reality. Is it really as bad as we make it sound? Or have we just given it an unnecessary reputation that is making it hard for us to deal with it? We give you seven reasons to prove Mondays aren’t that mundane, after all.
Monday Blues Are a Myth
According to the a report published in The Telegraph, the fact that we are the grumpiest on Mondays is only a myth.
People’s moods on Mondays are actually no worse than on any other weekday barring Friday, a survey of more than 300,000 people found. The popular fixation on the idea of “Blue Monday” should be given the status of a “cultural myth”, the team behind the new findings wrote in the Journal of Positive Psychology. The Telegraph
Stop the presses! So Monday blues do not, after all, exist?
Best Day for an Outing
Monday is a great day to make dinner plans or even shopping for that matter. Malls, markets are less crowded. You find parking like a breeze. If watching a movie, then there are no crying/screaming kids around. The world is a better place, on a Monday.
Set Your Health Goals on a Monday
If you’ve been making plans to shed those few extra kilos or start a new activity, then say hello to Monday. Not only does it mark the beginning of a new week, a regime started on a Monday is 50% more effective than that started on any other day of the week.
Here’s how that logic works out: Monday is the farthest day from the coming weekend (read binging plans). You have five full days to follow a strict regime. You cheat over the weekend. You get back to shedding your weekend indulgence again on Monday. And so on.
More Time to Plan Your Weekend
If you are missing all the fun you had over the weekend or all the time you got to sleep, Monday gives you a whole new opportunity to make the coming weekend better. Call friends, find out who’s available, who’s not, make reservations before anyone else does.
Bond With Colleagues on a Monday
You need not always mean business with colleagues. Discuss how your weekend went, tell each other about new things you did, or simply crib about it being Monday.
Admit it, every day of the week is as good or bad as you believe them to be. So, leave the poor Monday alone and move on.
Monday Better Than Thursday!
If you keep your laziness aside for a minute, and think about it, then Monday is actually a day to be the most cheerful. You have spent two long days doing recreational stuff and you are definitely more charged up than you would be, on let’s say, a Thursday. Your mind is fresh and you can work on new ideas.
One Day Closer to the Weekend
Weekends come and weekends go, but what brings you closer to them is the humble Monday. Let’s face it, weekends wouldn’t be half as exciting if it wasn’t for the dreaded Monday. And while you are sitting and cribbing about going to work on Monday, there are people in Dubai dealing with ‘Sunday blues’.
Imagine how that must feel.
