Three-year-old Devansh Khirsagar suffers from Budd-Chiari Syndrome - a condition which causes abdominal pain and swelling of the liver. He also has hepatopulmonary syndrome which causes shortness of breath in the lungs of patients with liver disease. The only way he will survive is if he gets an urgent liver transplant.

In February 2016, when Devansh was just 6 months old, his mother got worried as he refused to eat. She saw his bloated abdomen and immediately took him to the local hospital. It was over there that the Khirsagars were shocked to know that Devansh’s lack of appetite and excessive crying was not just some regular illness.

Devansh underwent a venoplasty in 2016 following which his appetite improved. However, his parents’ joy was short-lived because only 4 weeks later he once again stopped eating. They rushed their baby to the hospital, where he underwent a second venoplasty, which unfortunately failed.

Over the next couple of years, his parents took him to multiple hospitals in the hope of treating their son. He underwent various alternative procedures like Endoscopy and 2D echo that were suggested by the doctors, but nothing worked.

Devansh’s father Tushar was by his son’s side throughout the painful journey. He was forced to take numerous leaves over this period due to which he was fired in August 2018. He has lost his job, but he does not want to lose his son.

This January, Devansh’s condition worsened and his stomach bloated even further and he once again refused to eat. His parents were unable to see their son endure such pain and decided to go to Mumbai to seek treatment.

In Mumbai, the doctors reviewed Devansh’s case and informed the Khirsagars that an urgent liver transplant was the only way they could save their son. Devansh will have to undergo another surgery before the liver transplant in order to increase his oxygen level. The risk factor involved in the transplant and the prospect of raising sufficient funds for the procedure in such little time has left Devansh’s parents helpless and extremely worried.

Seeing their son in this condition has destroyed the family. Devansh’s mother will donate her liver to her son, however for it to happen Tushar Khirsagar is in urgent need of funds.

The hospital has said that the approximate cost of the transplant would be Rs 20.5 lakh. The Khirsagars have already spent Rs 9 lakh on Devansh’s medical expenses over the last 2 years. Their savings have been exhausted and with no income, Tushar does not know how to raise such a large sum in such little time.

Devansh is just 3 years old and like every other child, he deserves to be at home with his parents. Your donation can help this child live a normal life.
