If you’re not living under a rock, in a galaxy far, far away, you know that music festivals have become the norm.
And if you’re a sucker for music, there’s no way you can give these a miss.
So what do you ‘sport’? A Farhan Akhtar-esque look in Rock On? Or perhaps you’re channelling Ranbir Kapoor’s much too demure Rockstar avatar.
Sigh. We hear you ladies. There’s not a style manual 101 that takes you through the hordes of music festivals comfortably – yet stylishly. And there’s much more you can do than the boho breezy look everyone seems to recommend.
Fear not. We’ve got you covered. Here are a few things you must lay your hands on, ladies, before you rock that fest!
Crops Tops and Denim Shorts
Yes! It’s a music festival, so it’s got to be an open air affair. Brace yourself for the heat, cold and the rain.
Forget your designer pieces or those expensive ensembles; you don’t need the weather gods to prey on them. However, if you are at a music fest, you’ll need to let your hair down and show some skin!
Chop off those denims and make them into chic shorts. If they are frayed, trust us, they’ll look even better! Sassy crop tops in light colours or floral prints teamed with these denim shorts will add to the cool quotient. Slip on a pair of boots and those Lady Gaga round-rimmed shades and you’re ready to rock.
Crochet Dresses, Flower Crowns and Chappals
What could be more ‘vintage’ than the classic crochet dress teamed with a flower crown? Choose a dress in light colours that will keep you cool and breezy while you prance and dance around all day long. The flower crown will add to the boho charm and you will perchance be reminded of a particularly happy and sauntering Kangana Ranaut in Queen.
Top off this ensemble with a pair of hawai chappals – or even your paragons in trendy colours will do just fine.
Tank Tops With Jasmine Pants
‘Tis the best time to bring out the tank tops and the bandeaus.
Light tanks in pastel shades or the colourful bandeaus are a great option for a music fest.
Slip on a skirt to go with the tank and bandeau and look the part. But if you’re looking for something even crazier – pull out those jasmine/ harem pants with ‘oms’ and ‘swastiks’ (you know you kept those from Goa jaunts) which you’ve always been hesitant to wear to work.
The jasmine pants in particular will keep you airy and comfortable all day long.
Add a stylish edge to your ensemble with Bohemian style jewellery: think armbands and head chains. (These are easily available at any of the Forever 21 or Zara outlets.)
As for footwear? Your best bet would be a pair of those colourful oshos (straw chappals) or if you truly want to make heads turn – a pair of strappy boots.
Beach Dress With a Cross Shoulder Leather Bag
Who said a beach dress can only be worn to the beach? One with Aztec or boho prints is a great option to wear to a music fest. You can be sure it won’t get too hot while dancing like a lunatic – and if it’s chilly outside you can throw on a leather jacket or an oversized denim jacket.
Team this with a hat – or if you don’t want to be caught squinting, a trendy pair of shades (ideally ones with a metallic tone which will go well with the beach dress).
Don’t forget – while you’re at the fest, you will need something to hold your phone or your cash! A small cross shoulder leather fringed bag is your best bet.
