Zakir Musa, the new Hizbul Mujahideen commander and Burhan Wani’s successor, has resorted to threatening the Jammu and Kashmir Police through social media.
In an unverified video that is two minutes and eleven seconds long, a voice that is believed to be Musa’s can be heard threatening police informants to leave Kashmir.
In the video, a laptop can be seen with a photo of Zakir Musa, previously seen on social media, on it.
First Video Threatens Police Informants
The voice goes on to say:
We recently showed you a demo of what we could do with 15 kg of RDX. We are telling you now to either surrender or to face the consequences. We are also issuing a final warning to all informers who are working for the police. We want to tell them that the ones they are working for have shared this list with us for the sake of money.
The video further shows someone clicking on folders boldly titled ‘HELPFUL PERSONS/INFORMERS’. The voice goes on to say that this list is of all informers who have been helping three police stations in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, and that the informers should now “leave the Valley”.
Second Video Threatens the J&K Police
In another unverified one minute 25 second long video that has surfaced, Zakir Mussa has threatened the Jammu and Kashmir police with dire consequences if they do not stop harassing the families of the militants. Mussa can be seen sitting on a floor with an AK 47 near him.
You have committed a big mistake by involving our families in this war. This is between the JKP and the militants – but you have involved our families. This is our first and last warning. Do not harass our families, otherwise we will kill yours. Even if your families were in Kanya Kumari, we’d hunt them down and kill them.
Musa further says that the families of policemen are not safe just because the families of policemen are in Jammu, “the winter capital of Kashmir”. He warned the police of consequences if the militants’ families are harassed. In a chilling threat, the unverified video of the man who claims to be the new Burhan Wani says:
If you still don’t refrain from doing so, we will make sure that every street in the Valley is littered with the bodies of Jammu and Kashmir Police – right from the chaprasi to the Inspector General of Police. Even police security will not be able to protect them.
