Even as US President Donald Trump signed an executive order rolling back the 2014 Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces order that former US President Barack Obama put in place to check discrimination amongst workers and violation of civil right laws, his daughter Ivanka Trump delivered tall talks on "Equal Work Equal Pay".
At an event held at the White House, she said:
It’s really important we think about the introduction of girls in STEM fields in our school system... because when we think about equal pay and the challenge we have to finally level the playing field, I think this will be a very important component.
Her comments did not go down well among her critics who accused her of hypocrisy.
Earlier Ivanka had said that her father will fight for the cause of equal pay. In America, a woman earns 80 cents for every dollar a male worker earns.
Despite what Ivanka had said on women empowerment, Trump rolled back planned parenthood right after coming to power.
