Kochi Reflects Make in India Vision
Addressing the attendees of the imaugural event, PM Modi heaped praises on the Kochi Metro.
Kochi, the queen of Arabian Sea was once an important spice trading centre. Today it is known as the commercial capital of Kerala. This metro project has several signification feature. It reflects the Make in India vision. They have been built by Alstom near Chennai, and have an Indian component of around 70 percent.
Thanking the people of Kochi, and CM Pinayari Vijayan, Modi said:
Kochi was selected as a Smart City in Round 1 of the challenge in January 2016. I hope it will do even better in the days to come.

PM Modi flagged off the Kochi Metro and took a ride on the Kochi Metro along with Kerala Chief Minister Pinayari Vijayan, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Governor P Sathasivam, MP KV Thomas, Minister Thomas Chandy and Mayor Soumini Jain.
The metro will be open to the public on Monday.
