Ministers Laud Swaraj, Say Govt Will Save Jadhav at Any Cost

In a big win for India, the International Court of Justice stayed the execution of Kulbhushan Jadhav until the proceedings are over, while granting India consular access.

Several Indian leaders took to Twitter to congratulate India’s victory in the case against Pakistan.

External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj termed the verdict a ‘great relief’ to Jadhav’s family as well as the people of India. She further stated that the Modi government will “leave no stone unturned” to save Jadhav.

Quoting sources, ANI reported that PM Narendra Modi expressed his satisfaction to EAM Sushma Swaraj on the verdict, while lauding the efforts of Harish Salve and his team.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated EAM Sushma Swaraj on the verdict, reiterating Swaraj’s sentiment on the government’s efforts to save Jadhav.

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu called the International Court’s ruling a “major victory for India”, while congratulating Swaraj for her efforts in the case.

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad congratulated lawyer Harish Salve and his team for representing India at the ICJ and arguing the case.

BJP President Amit Shah too welcomed the ICJ’s decision, stating that it brings relief to the nation.

Opposition Leaders Welcome ICJ Order

Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia wecomed the ICJ’s decision, wishing for a “logical end” to the case.

Reacting to the ICJ’s order, Congress leader Manish Tewari urged the government to “use ICJ decision as a trigger to bring back Kulbhushan Jadhav”.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal welcomed the ICJ’s order, stating that the country has united to ensure his release.

Speaking to news channels post the verdict, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi congratulated all the concerned parties involved in the case.

Non-Politicos Congratulate Government’s Efforts

Speaking to ANI, Dalbir Kaur, sister of Sarabjit Singh, another Indian national convicted of spying by Pakistan, congratulated the government, calling the verdict a “victory of crores of Indians and the truth”.

Shekhar Gupta, prominent journalist and founder of news organisation The Print, tweeted his sentiment on the ICJ’s verdict as well.

Veteran sports commentator Harsha Bhogle also took to the microblogging site to express his joy on the ICJ’s order.
