In an exclusive interview to The Quint’s Editorial Director Sanjay Pugalia, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that it is imperative for a democratic country to have a strong opposition.
Slamming the Congress, he said that the people had decided to not accord the status of the main opposition party to it. He further added that the party had managed to pocket only seven seats in UP, despite having forged an alliance with the Samajwadi Party.
While extending his best wishes to the opposition in its effort to forge a united front, Naidu affirmed that such a situation is close to impossible. The Minister added that the opposition parties will never agree on forming an alliance. “If it happens, it will be easier for us,” he said.
