An accused in the infamous Bihar toppers scam was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Friday, triggering allegations from his kin that he was murdered, reported The Telegraph.
The deceased, Diwakar Prasad, was in his early 50s and was found dead on the road outside his house in Panchwati Nagar, Patna. Prasad’s son Vicky alleged that his father was pushed from the rooftop by police. Police officials denied the claim, adding that Prasad jumped off the building after realising that the police had come to arrest him.
Police had gone to his house in connection with a case involving irregularities in floating tender for supply of answer-sheets of the Intermediate examination to Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB).
Manu Maharaaj, the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), said that a case has been filed against six cops based on the statement of Prasad’s kin.
“Action will be initiated against the cops if the allegations were found to be true,” Maharaaj told The Telegraph.
